A sign language class was held with an instructor from the Koto City Council for the Promotion of Welfare for People with Hearing Impairments.
The instructor explained basic knowledge about hearing impairments, communication methods suited to different disabilities, and points to keep in mind. As practical communication exercises, participants experienced speechreading, writing letters in the air, written communication, writing on someone's hand, gestures, sign language, and drawing pictures, and learned some basic signs.
